A fresh coat of paint, professionally applied by an experienced craftsman, can completely change the look of your home. Whether it’s the ceilings and trim or the cabinets and walls, a new color will make you fall in love with your home all over again.
At Werner Design Painting, we approach every project with the care and attention to detail that only a decade of experience can provide. Our commitment to delivering a quality product and ensuring customer satisfaction shines through in every step of our process. But what does this process look like?
Protecting You and Your Home
It all starts with protecting your health, your home, and your belongings. We begin by carefully moving large furniture to the center of the room as needed, ensuring everything is safely relocated. Next, we cover all exposed furniture and fixtures with lightweight plastic to shield them from paint drips and dust. If the project involves heavy sanding or spraying that may create a lot of dust, we seal off doorways and vents to prevent dust and fumes from spreading to other areas of the house. We use HEPA-filtered vacuums and sanders, and all floors are masked and covered with drop cloths.
Surface Preparation
Surface preparation is the most important step and can make or break a paint job. In fact, prepping your walls and trim can account for up to 70% of the entire painting process.
First, we begin by cleaning the surface with a mild degreaser if necessary. Next, we repair any nicks, dents, or nail holes in the walls, ensuring a smooth, flawless finish. Gaps in the trim are caulked, and nail holes are filled for a seamless look. We then pole-sand the walls to smooth out any light imperfections. The trim is also sanded to eliminate any rough spots. Any drywall repairs are primed, and we use painter’s tape to create crisp, clean lines where needed. This thorough preparation ensures a solid foundation for applying color.
Interior Home Painting: Applying Paint
Now we get to the fun part: applying color! Every interior painting project is unique. Some projects, like kitchen cabinet painting, may involve spraying, while others may call for a brush and roller. We will carefully apply the paint with expert craftsmanship. Once the job is complete, we’ll clean up by vacuuming and wiping down the floors, leaving your space looking as though we were never there.
